And while you can just opt for their magnificent engine tuning, the cherry on the cake is their aerodynamic packages, stylish and effective without being over the top like for instance a Mansory, make no mistake, they have some seriously wide kits, but it all shows taste, just like their beautiful custom wheels, and usually, their show cars are finished in black, all blacked-out most of the time and black cars just happen to be my personal favorite, I have been driving black metallic cars for decades now, always complaining they get dirty within 30 seconds of detailing them, but their deep shine is just intoxicating, BRABUS also offers bespoke interiors, complete with additional tech and made just like the customer wants … now that can quickly become tasteless, but BRABUS tries to guide you into the right direction.
But now BRABUS heads into new horizons, moving into uncharted territory with a brand new offering for Rolls Royce and Porsche, which especially in the latter case is a somewhat strange marketing move as there are already countless Porsche tuners on the market, some with ultra-solid reputations, so why would BRABUS get into tuning Porsches? Probably the answer would be: why not? And the first demo car they made isn’t even finished in black, it’s a 992 Turbo S Convertible in grey, but the result is still tested and proven … add a subtle aero kit … and lots of power, while keeping the entire package reliable, even for daily use.
From the factory, the 3.8-Liter twin-turbo flat-six engine in the current Porsche 911 Turbo S delivers already a very healthy 650 hp and 800 Nm of torque, installing the BRABUS PowerXtra P38S-720 performance upgrade adds 70 hp to this, up to 720 hp at 6,900 rpm while an additional 100 Nm of torque boost the base figure to 900 Nm at 4,000 rpm, this results in acceleration figures of 2.6 seconds from 0 to 100 Km/h (62 mph), for safety reasons the top speed of this beauty is electronically limited to 335 km/h or 208 mph.
But wait, there is more, BRABUS also has the PowerXtra P38S-820 option available, which will increase overall power output to, you’ve guessed it, 820 hp and 950 Nm of torque, to achieve these figures this kit also includes two special BRABUS high-performance turbochargers with a modified core assembly featuring reinforced axial bearing, a larger compressor unit and a larger turbine unit with modified VTG adjustment produces a maximum boost pressure of 2.1 bar, and now you get even more impressive numbers, an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds and a limited top speed of 340 km/h or 211 mph.
A thundering INCONEL high-performance exhaust system should be fitted when you opt for any of the BRABUS PowerXtra options, but you can also install it on a stock Porsche Turbo S, with the quad tips this not only looks the part, but also sounds impressive.
It comes with so-called ‘butterfly’ valves so you can have it set in ‘Coming home’ when you enter your neighborhood but you can set it to ‘Sport’ to really unleash the sound of that flat-six engine behind you, there are two BRABUS BoostXtra valves for the turbo system to produce a thrilling blow-off noise when the driver lifts off the gas.
To make sure all this power can be used safely on the open road, or the track during a track day, BRABUS took the Porsche 911 Turbo S into the wind tunnel to develop an aero kit that reduces lift while keeping it looking great at the same time, all made from carbon-fiber and available either glossy or matt coated, whichever the client prefers. This includes a new front spoiler with vertical flaps on either side that increase stability at high speeds, while the factory standard active drop-down part in the rear fascia is kept while BRABUS makes bespoke carbon fiber inserts for the front bumper and flaps for the rocker panels head of the rear wheels.
To perfectly surround those four 100mm exhaust tips from the BRABUS exhaust system, there is a custom-made rear diffuser, also made from lightweight carbon fiber, and a large rear wing to match that sits considerably higher compared to the factory rear wing, the wheels on this beauty are forged Monoblock Z “PLATINUM EDITION” center-lock units in a staggered diameter set, boasting ten spokes, these are 9.5×21 inch for the front and massive 12×22 inch at the rear, with either Continental, Pirelli or YOKOHAMA high-performance tires fitted, sizes 255/30 ZR 21 at the front and 335/25 ZR 22 on the rear axle to be precise.
BRABUS is known for their magnificent interior finishes, created in-house by their own artisans in their famous upholstery shop, for this Porsche 820 S they went with black leather as a stark contrast to the gray paint finish, but there is additional contrast on the cockpit in the form of red piping and stitching, together with the perfectly executed shield-shaped quilting of the seat center sections and the cockpit floor, this amazing quilting is enhanced with equally precise perforations.
BRABUS genuine carbon elements with a choice of high-gloss or matt sealed surface as well as aluminum components such as the pedals and the footrest with backlit BRABUS lettering add decidedly sporty touches to the cockpit, this show car comes with red glazing on these components and other elements such as the dashboard and center console to match the interior appointments. The BRABUS interior styling is also characterized by further loving details such as the steering wheel with red decorative stitching and top-center marking as well as the leather trim around the Sport Chrono clock on the instrument panel. In addition, the extensive range includes scuff plates with the backlit BRABUS logo, whose color alternates between red and white, high-quality floor mats, and trunk liners with leather edging.
